Fibarcode addresses the growing textile waste issue in the U.S., where landfill-bound textiles have increased by 80% since 2000. Poor labeling hinders re-use, repair, and recycling efforts, with nearly 30% of textiles lacking readable care labels and 40% misidentifying material content. Fibarcode’s photonic fiber barcodes, integrated into fabrics using standard textile processes, ensure accurate, durable labeling and can be scanned with portable spectroscopic systems.
