For the past several weeks, TAEBC has been advocating for changes to the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” urging members to contact Tennessee lawmakers to support amendments that preserve or enhance critical energy tax credits. On July 4, President Trump signed this sweeping tax & spending package into law.
TAEBC is encouraged that existing nuclear tax credits were preserved and some positive changes were made to the final bill, including eliminating a proposed excise tax on wind and solar projects and restoring safe-harbor rules for wind and solar projects that commence construction within one year of enactment. However, many of the changes TAEBC requested in letters to Senators Blackburn & Hagerty were not included, such as extending the timelines for phasing out the tech-neutral clean electricity 45Y production tax credit and 48E investment tax credit and fixing Foreign Entity of Concerns (FEOC) provisions that render many of the energy tax credits unworkable for TAEBC members.
We encourage members to contact Tennessee federal lawmakers to communicate how changes to energy tax credits resulting from the One Big Beautiful Bill will impact their organizations, employees, and advanced energy investments in Tennessee.
